A Hunter Valley Wedding to remember “The music was fantastic, the food and service was wonderful”
We met at a Newcastle bar. We walked past each other on the dance floor and exchanged glances. We went on to dance the night away.
As I was on the look out for any romantic gesture which could indicate a proposal he decided to surprise me. This involved me waking up one morning to him smiling with a ring box and popping the question straight away.
I was looking online to get some ideas when I found a dress I really liked. They stocked the designer at Belles and Beaux Newcastle so I went in and tried it on. I loved it and didn’t look any further.
It rained off and on all morning and I really thought the wedding would not go ahead outdoors. However the rain stopped just before I arrived and when I came up the driveway everyone was on the lawn. The rain stayed away for the whole ceremony. It was perfect, and it made for great photos.
The music was fantastic, the food and service was wonderful and everyone enjoyed the wine that flowed all night. We also loved surprising our guests with fireworks, which were a big hit.
Chad’s children, Stella 10yrs and Ethan 6yrs had written speeches for the wedding which Chad and I weren’t allowed to hear until the night. They spoke exceptionally well and were really heart felt. All the guests were blown away!
Assorted canapés to start followed by alternate pork belly salad and tempura king prawns for entrée. For the main meal it was Rosemary and Tarragon Lamb Rump or Corn-fed chicken supreme. Plus a Thai- style vegetable curry as our vegan option. we had a dessert table with various desserts including the wedding cake.
Ed Sheeran’s Give Me Love, was played walking down the aisle and for our first dance. I told Crocq Music I trusted him to decide on all the other important song choices and to just surprise us.
As the ceremony and reception were at Tamburlaine, Lou and Crystal the event coordinators there were extremely helpful. They looked after all the little details and made the day run very smoothly.
We had an initial amount we had budgeted for but as the process started we did add a few things along the way.
Around $30,000 to $35,000.
I had a cocktail party at friends house and Chad had a weekend in Melbourne.
Where did/will you go on your Honeymoon & which travel agent did you book your honeymoon through:
We went to Byron Bay and stayed at an apartment across from the beach. We booked all the details ourselves.
Thierry Boudan was our photographer. He was very experienced and had amazing ideas. It really helped having someone know exactly what they were doing. We ended up with incredible shots.
I used the Hunter Valley Wedding Planner for most aspects of my wedding. It’s where I got ideas for the venue, florist and decorations. Other people were chosen from positive feedback from word of mouth.
Most people stayed at the Mecure Hunter Valley with some family and friends travelling from Perth, Darwin, Cairns and Brisbane. Other guests stayed at Crowne Plaza and Cypress Lakes.
Where possible, could you also provide details of any ‘tourist’ style activities you and/or your guests were able to fit in whilst visiting the area (e.g. wine tasting, tours, shopping, dining, exploring, etc).
We enjoyed shopping at Hunter Valley Gardens, wine tasting and breakfast at Peterson’s House, lunch at The Deck and a round of Aqua golf as well.
