Some weddings just fit their location perfectly, and Sally & Mitch’s day at Caves Beach was one of them. From a heartfelt ceremony on the boardwalk to an epic celebration inside the resort’s stunning wedding room, the whole day flowed effortlessly — exactly the way a wedding should.

Caves Beach Is a Dream Wedding Destination

If you’ve never been to Caves Beach, picture this: golden sand stretching for kilometres, dramatic rocky headlands, and the famous sea caves that glow with soft light at low tide. It’s a spot that feels both relaxed and cinematic — perfect for couples who want breathtaking photos without having to trek miles to get them.

Caves Beach Resort takes full advantage of this setting. The ceremony spaces are steps from the ocean, and the boardwalk — where Sally & Mitch tied the knot — offers the best of both worlds: uninterrupted ocean views and the convenience of being right near the reception venue.

The beach itself is just a short stroll away, which meant we could whisk Sally & Mitch down for a mix of romantic portraits and fun, candid shots with the bridal party, all while guests enjoyed a drink nearby.

The Ceremony: Ocean Breezes & Big Smiles

The boardwalk ceremony felt intimate yet open, with the sound of waves in the background and a gentle sea breeze keeping everyone cool. Sally arrived looking incredible, her dress catching the light in a way that made every photo pop. Mitch couldn’t stop smiling — and neither could anyone else.

The beauty of Caves Beach as a ceremony location is that it doesn’t need much dressing up. The natural blues and greens, the timber tones of the boardwalk, and the sweeping horizon do most of the work.

Sunset, Sea Caves & Bushland Vibes (Yes, All in One Day)

One of the biggest perks of Caves Beach is variety. Within minutes, you’ve got:

  • The ocean and boardwalk for those open, airy shots.

  • The famous sea caves for moody, cinematic portraits (especially at low tide).

  • The nearby coastal headlands for dramatic, windswept images.

We made the most of golden hour, starting with light-filled beach shots and finishing in the caves, where the soft reflected light gave the photos a warm, magical glow.

The Reception: Caves Beach Resort Wedding Room

Once the sun dipped, everyone moved inside to the Caves Beach Resort wedding room — an elegant space with floor-to-ceiling windows, a neutral palette, and ocean views that keep the coastal vibe going well into the night.

The layout is perfect for a big party: plenty of room for dining, dancing, and even a few surprise moves from the bridal party. The warm lighting inside contrasted beautifully with the tones outside, making for some gorgeous reception photos.

Sally & Mitch’s night was full of heartfelt speeches, spontaneous dance-offs!

As a photographer with over 1,400 weddings under my belt, I can honestly say Caves Beach offers one of the most versatile backdrops in NSW. You get natural beauty, easy access between locations, and a reception venue that’s both stylish and relaxed. It’s the kind of place where your wedding feels like a true celebration from start to finish.
