From the moment I arrived, it felt like I’d walked into a weekend away with a bunch of mates who just happened to be getting married. No tight schedules, no “should we be doing this right now?” energy — just family, friends, and a couple who were completely in the moment.
The Chillest Ceremony by the Lake
We set up right by the water, the breeze coming in off Lake Macquarie, guests with sunnies on, kids running about, and not a single stressed face in sight. The couple laughed their way through their vows, stealing glances at each other like they had a secret no one else knew.
And honestly? That’s the kind of ceremony I love. No overthinking. No Pinterest board perfection. Just real emotions, surrounded by people who genuinely love you.
That Sunset Though…
After the “I do’s” and a couple of celebratory drinks, we wandered off for portraits. And then — magic.
The lake put on a show. The sky lit up with every shade of gold, pink, and purple you can imagine, the water turning into this perfect glassy mirror. It was so good, we kept stopping mid-walk just to take it all in (and yes, I took a ridiculous number of shots — zero regrets).
Party Mode: Activated
Back at the reception, things kicked up a notch. Barefoot dancing, heartfelt speeches, way too much laughing during the cake cutting… it was the kind of night where everyone forgot about time. The music spilled out into the night air, the stars came out, and I could tell no one was in a hurry to go home.
Why I’ll Remember This One
Raffertys Resort has this magic mix — the lake, the light, the laid-back vibe. But it’s the people that made this day so memorable. I left with sore cheeks from smiling and a camera full of moments that tell their story exactly how it felt: fun, relaxed, and full of love.
